British Superbikes 2010
After a long dismal winter, the 3rd season of Back on Track Physiotherapy commenced at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend.
Brands Hatch - Round 1
Generally lucky with the weather, a few showers and a bit on the chilly side.
125 youngster Bradley Hughes had an early highside at Paddock Hill, fortunate to only hurt his wrist, which was managed with soft tissue therapy and tape .
Good to see Chris Martin back in Supersports following his bad accident at Brands Hatch Gp last year. (see gallery section)
Another legacy of 2009 was 125 rider Ed Rendell, who needed surgery to fix his lower leg after an off at Cadwell. Again he has done well but needed assistance after a number of sessions.
Superbike Evo rookie James Edmeades was one of many to highside at Graham Hill, resulting in a fractured wrist requiring surgery.
Joe Burns another Superbike Evo newbie also broke his wrist, after an off at Paddock Hill.
Joe's elder brother Chris Burns was unfortunate to develop a tedonitis in his forearm, after a good amount of work he managed to claim a couple of 3rd places in the Evo class.
Dakota Mamola, son of GP legend Randy was treated for armpump.
Stuart Easton was also suffering with armpump, in addition to recovering from his nasty leg wound sustained in pre season testing at Cadwell Park.
Tom Tunstall was unlucky to highside his superbike on the exit of clearways, with a few running repairs he was in better shape for the races.
Glen Richards was another to suffer a nasty off at Graham Hill, resulting in an injured shoulder amongst other things.
Thruxton Round 2
Sun and blue skies all weekend, can this really be a BSB weekend !
Thruxton's fast nature led to many off's, and saw a record number of visitors to the BackonTrack team.
Worst accident of the weekend went to James Ellison of Swan Honda, who was unfortunate to suffer a fractured femur, and will obviously be out until later in the season.
Tommy Hill also sufferred a 120mph + off and was fortunate not to hit anything hard as James did.
Tommy Bridewell destroyed the Quay Garage Honda and mashed his little finger in the process.
Stuart Easton still needed some help with his leg after his off in testing at Cadwell, he was lucky not to damage any ligaments, nerves or blood vessels.

Simon Andrews of MSS Kawasaki came to see us with the foot he broke badly at WSB Valencia. He looks to be out of action for quite some time.
Oulton Park Round 3
Bright and sunny if not a tad chilly and then rain on Monday afternoon :-(
Need to say a big well done to the Brits in WSB who claimed all 6 podiums at Assen, with Leon Camier claiming his maiden WSB podium, Jonny Rea doing the double, JT proving his doubters wrong with a battling 2nd and 3rd adn Leon Haslem recovering from a poor 1st race to claim a fine 2nd in race 2.
Oulton also saw the retirement of Neil Hodgson, who reinjured his shoulder at Brands. BackonTrack would like to wish him all the best in his retirement after an illustrious career.
Hodgson's retirement though opened the door for Ian Lowry to return to BSB following his impressive rookie year on the relentless Suzuki last year. Ian is also competing in the Spanish moto2 championship. Sadly he had a pair of DNF's at Oulton, though no serious injuries.
As usual we saw a lot of people with the dreaded arm pump from Superbike riders to Superstock riders.
Good to see Glen Richards returning to action after breaking his shoulder blade at Brands, though he failed to finish in slippery conditions in Supersports
Chris Burns following his forearm decompression chose not to race, in order to recover fully for the rest of the season, while his brother Joe (below) rode but needed some extra support for the wrist he injured at Brands. Jack Kennedy (on the bed) was sore after a highside at Cascades, but did well to get on the podium in supersports. Interestingly we also treated Supersports winner Ben Wilson and second placed Sam Lowes for a clean sweep.
In Superbike Race 1, Yukio Kagayama had an off at Island bend, and unfortunately managed to compress his T7 vertebra. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Simon Andrews popped in again with his foot, which looked a lot better than it was at Thruxton, though he is still some way from being fit to ride.
Good to see Billy Mellor from Superstock 1000 recovering well from his bilateral wrist fractures at thruxton.
The real secret to recovery is diet as Simon, Stuart and James know only too well. Big thanks to Mark, Kate and Dozza for the Bakewell !
To finish the weekend off reigning BSB champ Leon Camier came in for a bit attention following his off in the 2nd race at Assen. All in all a very busy weekend, next stop Cadwell Park............
Northwest 200
Steve Plater suffered arm and neck fractures and is out for a good part of the season, otherwise good results for Alistair Seeley, Stuart Easton, Michael Rutter amongst others.
Cadwell Park - Round 4
No Rich this weekend, but able substitute Mike (pic to follow) filled in to great effect !
Great weather but not the usual Cadwell atmosphere of the usual August Bank Holiday. Wins for Kiyo and Brookes. 125 rider Ed Rendell left the circuit for the second year in sucession via the air ambulance after an off at Mansfield - later released no significant injuries.
The mini twins series was in attendance, after a nasty crash at Park, all Physio ceased as lots of hands were needed to cope with the numerous casualties, though normal service resumed later.
James Ellison 5 weeks after a fractured femur was unfortunately declared unfit to ride. The mountain claimed several victims as usual including Dan Linfoot, Richard Cooper and Chris Burns. Josh Brookes however claimed the mountain with some spectacular "air".
James Edmeades is still recovering from his nasty off from the opening round of the season at Brands, and struggled to find his rhythm.
IOM TT 2010
First of all congrats to Ian Hutchinson on his amazing 5 victories. The week was overshadowed by the death of Paul "Dobsy" Dobbs. There were also big accidents involving Guy Martin and Manxman Conor Cummins in the Senior TT. Back On Track would like to extend their sympathies to Dobsy's family and to also wish Guy and Conor all the best with their recoveries.
Of our regulars James Edmeades, Michael Rutter, David Johnson, Hudson Kennaugh, Dan Kneen and Dan Cooper all completed the week.
Mallory Park - Round 5
We booked the weather for Mallory and were rewarded with sunshine and blue skies :-)
We trialled an open air clinic, due to lack of space, Chris Burns and John Laverty were willing participants !
John Laverty was fast all weekend but managed to lose the front midway around Gerrard's, a few knocks but fortunately unscathed.
Jamie Hamilton returned to action following a clavicle fracture, and needed some assistance.
The weather required the team to optimize their nutritional intake, and ensure their vitamin D levels were satisfactory.
Andrew Pitt made his 1st appearance in BSB, James Ellison was passed as "fit to ride" and scored valuable points. Yukio Kagayama returned to action following his vertebral fracture at Oulton, sadly he managed quite a spectacular highside.
Dan Linfoot was another who required help, with the hot weather causing some sweaty hands, and ultimately some blisters, while Simon Andrews foot continues to recover from his off at WSB Valencia.
Steve Brogan hurt his hand, which needed managing for the rest of the weekend, unfortunately he then suffered an off in race 2. Martin Jessop was unfortunate to break his Tib and Fib on one leg and the foot on the other :-( to rudely interrupt an excellent season so far.
The day ceased early as the track broke up in the excessive heat and was not safe. Next stop knockhill, North of the Border.
